Welcome to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Florida. The VFW of Florida was founded on July 27, 1931 to assure those who have protected our country are protected in return. This comes in the form of patriotic programs, reaching out with help in communities across America, and being an advocate for veteran’s entitlements both in Tallahassee and in Washington, D.C.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars was originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces and their families.

The VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW Posts around the world. We are at heart an organization dedicated to providing a place for all of those who have sacrificed in our nations’s conflicts abroad. While we are a national organization, we express this dedication through our local posts and programs to support veterans service members and their families.

We extend an invitation to join, our most prestigious organization and take part in the caring for our Warriors of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Attention Life Members:  Did You Know?

Dear VFW and Auxiliary Life member ,

Did you know your VFW or Auxiliary membership could help future generations of your family build a better life? You could be like Malika’s grandfather, a Korean War veteran. Thanks to his VFW membership, Malika and her young daughters were able to get the fresh start they needed in the peaceful and nurturing environment of your VFW National Home for Children.

Whether it’s your family, your children’s family, your grandchildren’s family or even your great-grandchildren’s family, your membership in the VFW or its Auxiliary means they are automatically eligible to live at the VFW National Home for Children and benefit from the services we offer.

This Awareness Week, we are kicking off an ongoing campaign called “Did You Know?” to make sure each and every one of you is aware of this important benefit to your membership. I encourage you to learn more about how we help, and to share that information with your family. Please know that, should you or a family member need us, we stand ready to help, just call our Military and Veteran Family Helpline at 800-313-4200 or email
